As of January 1, 2014 the Nieto’s & the Garcia’s have been celebrating New Years together for 25 consecutive years. It all started with our parents and myself (at a ripe, 1 year of age).
There were simpler days when the moms would cook homemade meals at the Garcia household while the dads went out and dropped $200 on fireworks. We’d all eat and watch the ball drop out on the east coast and other parts of the world before piling into a couple vehicles. We would all set up shop at the nearby middle school parking lot and blow off fireworks till the wee hours of the morning with our dads cigars. In recent times there have been many wonderful additions to the group and the celebrations have become a bit more extavagant. Either way we celebrate, it’s always a blast. It’s a blast in a middle school parking lot, or in the heart of San Francisco.. because we are together.
This was the first photo I snapped. We detoured to Baker Beach on our way from SFO to Sonoma. The 70 degree weather made it hard not to stop.
